With centuries of experience in steel mastery, we have developed a unique, solid steel profile. Our SL30-ISO® profile combines the exceptional strength of solid steel with a high-tech thermal break resulting in an ultra-slim profile with the sharpest contours in the market. Its unprecedented performance only requires a width of 30 mm (1 3⁄16”) and allows architects the design freedom to create revolutionary landmarks of architectural ingenuity and innovation.
We believe in applying the proven power of solid steel profiles, combining their exceptional strength with unprecedented performance. The ingenuity of our profile systems offers architects the ultimate design flexibility with great attention to detail.
The solid steel profile strength, as measured by its bending resistance, is unrivaled by any other existing profile systems, with steel being three times stronger than aluminum.*
SL30-ISO® Solid steel | Folded sheet metal | Aluminum curtain wall |
30 mm – 1 3/16″ | 95 mm – 3 3/4″ | 50 mm – 1 15/16″ |
Ix = 35,89 cm4 | Ix = 22,1 cm4 | Ix = 29,8 cm4** |
* The strength of glazing systems is determined by the ability to resist bending. This stiffness is expressed in the Ix value. The higher the Ix value, the stronger the profile system is in the direction of X.
** Expressed in Ix of steel.
We are the exclusive developer and manufacturer of all our steel profile systems and handcrafted steel products such as doors, windows, and entire facades. As such, we maintain a unique industry position. Other manufacturers either produce profile systems, or manufacture doors and windows using profiles produced elsewhere.
Our combined services guarantee a flexible and versatile production process without compromising on quality or deadlines. Any adjustment of one step in the production process is seamlessly integrated into the following steps because we closely supervise the entire process. We consider this dedicated focus to be essential for our unique solid steel profile systems.
Thanks to our in-house engineering and innovation, we are highly versatile when it comes to combining elements into unique facades. In addition to fully customized projects, we offer multiple unique ultra-slim SL30-ISO® configurations such as unique doors, windows, folding doors and pivot systems.
The exceptional strength of solid steel allows our revolutionary SL30-ISO® profile to be ultra-slim and highly durable. With sightlines of just 30 mm (1 3⁄16”) , it has the slimmest sightlines in the global market. As such, it allows in all daylight and seamlessly combines the indoors and the outdoors.
Our ultra-slim profile systems offer architects the opportunity to create exceptionally large glass surfaces with plenty of room for experimentation. We can combine steel profiles into unique facades without the need for additional support structures. Even very large facades can maintain their narrow sightlines of 30 mm (1 3⁄16”) for fixed parts of the steel frame. For elements opening outwards it is 50 mm (1 15⁄16”), and 58 mm (2 1⁄4”) for elements opening inwards.
Our SL30-ISO® profile system has excellent thermal insulation properties and has been developed for double glazing with a thickness, including glass stops, between 24 (15⁄16”) and 49 mm (1 15⁄16”). Its innovative, patented thermal break system offers optimal insulation. Its thermal bridge with a thickness of only 3 mm (1⁄8”) minimizes the heat loss surface.
MHB’s window and door systems provide U-window values as low as 0.7 W/m2K in accordance with EN-ISO 10077-2.
MHB’s window and door systems are also NFRC tested (100/200/500-2014)*
Here is a selection of performance values for fixed glazed windows (SL30-ISO®) achieved with three types of glazing according to NFRC standards. Test results as low as shown below:
Glazing type | Fixed glazing | Solar glazing | Low-E |
U-factor: | 0.16 | 0.27 | 0.27 |
SGHC: | 0.22 | 0.16 | 0.30 |
An excellent surface treatment is crucial for a product’s life span. Powder coating is the best surface treatment for preserving steel. Out of all treatments, powder coating provides the thickest protective layer, maximizing the lifespan of our products to 100+ years with minimal required upkeep.
All our doors and windows are powder coated at our in-house certified surface treatment facility, allowing us to monitor the entire process. We are one of only a few companies worldwide with a Qualisteelcoat C5 certification, the highest possible certification for steel surface treatment. We are committed to maintaining this certification, regularly having our facilities inspected officially.
All applied coatings and colors by MHB are certified as “Super Durable” quality. “Super Durable” powder coatings have been specifically developed for steel windows and door frames as well as facades and meet Qualicoat class 2 GSB master as well as AAMA 2604 – 2605 specifications.
“Super Durable” powder coatings have been tested according to the ISO 2810 norm three year outdoor Florida exposure tests. Retaining color and gloss retention 3 times longer than average (see chart below).
Depending on the location of the project, MHB applies 2 different surface treatments.
1: Class C3 – Medium corrosive environment – ISO 12944-2:2018
Gritblasting SA 2.5, a 3-layer powder coating:
2: Class C5 – Very high corrosive environment – ISO 12944-2:2018
Gritblasting SA 3.0, followed by thermal spraying and a 2-layer powder coating:
All our products are powder coated after full assembly, allowing our thermal zinc spraying process to offer complete protection at a level equal to the requirements for ships and oil rigs. Combined with our 6 mm (1⁄4”) thick solid steel profiles, corrosion has no chance, making our profiles last for 100+ years.
Inspired by the great Dutch master of art, Rembrandt van Rijn, known for his masterpieces created during the same era when MHB was founded, we have curated the Rembrandt Collection. A distinct collection consisting of high-quality design finishes.
These exclusive finishes are typically reserved for luxury interiors & exteriors in the highest segment. They are expertly applied to the world’s slimmest windows, doors, and facades and are suitable for exterior use in a C3 or C5 corrosive environment.
The Rembrandt Collection is crafted in MHB’s exceptional in-house surface treatment facilities and made from genuine bronze, tin, manganese, and brass. Through various sanding, polishing, and patina techniques, we can achieve an almost limitless range of textures, structures, and colour effects.
The SL30-ISO® profile system is engineered to maximize wind and water tightness following the most stringent European standards. It has invisible drainage channels and micro-engineered corner rubbers to prevent any condensation in the profiles.
All our products are weatherproofed up to a minimum of Class 4 following the European NEN-EN 12007 standard for wind resistance. They are also waterproofed up to at least Class 4A – 150 Pa following the European NEN-EN 12208 standard for water resistance. We can guarantee even higher standards of up to 1200 Pa on a project-specific basis.
MHB thermally insulated steel profile systems have received a “more than 100 years” Service Life Prediction (according to ISO 15686-2).
The SLP method for metal profile systems has a standard maximum set at 100 years, making the 100+ years SLP certification for MHB unprecedented.
The 100+ years SLP certification has been achieved based on the following unique MHB steel profile system characteristics:
The Service Life Prediction has been conducted by the external agency ABT.
Our core materials and the manufacturing process of our products are in line with our environmentally friendly and sustainable business conduct.
We work with a selection of preferred glass suppliers to meet our high standards. We only accept minute size deviations of up to 0.5 mm (1⁄16”). Our solid steel profiles also facilitate arched and rounded glass shapes. Because of our ultra-slim profiles, our glass rim sealings should be extra thin. We offer three possible glass stops for our glazing: aluminum L-shaped glass stops without visible connections, aluminum triangular glass stops, and steel L-shaped glass stops with visible connections.
Divided lites give your facades a more classic look with all the fine modern qualities of our steel profiles. For true divided lites (TDL), the window is divided into smaller glass panels, all separated by steel profiles:
Simulated divided lites (SDL) are indistinguishable from true divided lites (TDL) based on their outer appearance but facilitate stronger glass panels and better insulation.
