About this project
MHB fire-resistant SL30 internal glazed screens Youth and leisure center at the heart of Amsterdam.
The space of the youth centre is relatively deep and has windows on only two sides, and even those are located under a road. A corridor with rooms on both sides was therefore not desirable. The interior was eventually designed as an open floor plan in which you can wander around. The secondary functions such as storage rooms, toilets, sound studio and consultation room have been placed in the open space as separate volumes. Between the separate volumes glass facades were then designed to create extra rooms for the office, living room and girls' room.
The young people can walk around all the volumes, while the supervisors have supervision from the middle to all sides. The individual volumes have been given a robust bright orange Wapex coating which create a cheerful atmosphere. The MHB SL30 glazed screens ensure that the light penetrates deep into the room.
