Recreation home

About this project

This unique holiday home was built on an island in the Paterswoldsemeer. One of the requirements set by the client was that the house should be maintenance-free and, as it were, be able to be hosed down with a high-pressure cleaner. This has resulted in a special use of highly durable and user friendly materials, such as natural stone and the MHB profile system. The stones used all come from the same quarry and therefore have the same color and nuance. The roof is made of zinc and lies like a folded sheet over the natural stone volume. Both the ridge and the eaves are minimalistically detailed, in a way that is unique in the Netherlands. Thanks to the ultra-thin MHB profile system, in daylight, the windows let the sun’s rays in and the house shines. Being in this stone house, you feel silence, comfort and nature all around. (Source)
